Third stop continued: le Tonerrois

Le Tonerrois is a subregion of Bourgogne (Burgundy). It is named for the family of Clermont-Tonerre (or vice versa)the picture is the picture of the Cistercian abbey of Notre-Dame de Quincy (Our Lady of Quincy). It dates from the XIIth century. Nine hundred years old!
Ancy le Franc is another town in the this region. "Franc" refers to the fact that it was free of taxes from the local lord, as an incentive for economic growth.This region is rich in history.
The castle of Ancy le Franc was damaged by a storm in 1999(?) and is being repaired. Another castle in the area is the castle of Tanlay.

In the trophy rooms are the spoils of many hunts by the castle hunt. Can you spot the intruder?
Right! The moose was a gift to the castle owner on one of his many diplomatic trips.
